Georgia football enters the 2024 season as one of the top teams in the country. But it won’t be all on the shoulders of Kirby Smart to lead this team to another national championship. There will be many twists and turns along the way, with different players being asked to step up.

With that in mind, DawgNation is previewing the upcoming season, looking at the most important names, games and everything in between. Today, the DawgNation team is focused on the most important transfer. And while the team thinks it will come on the offensive side of the ball, Benjamin Yurosek and Trevor Etienne both have strong cases.

Kaylee Mansell: “They’re bringing Benjamin Yurosek in to play the Brock Bowers-type position. I think Benjamin Yurosek is the guy to do so.”

Mike Griffith: “This is a guy that want to ask to do Brock Bowers-like things. Maybe run the ball, catch passes, run after the catch. Good hands, he’s the No. 3 projected tight end in the upcoming draft. Could have a bigger impact than many people think.”

Jeff Sentell: “I think Trevor Etienne will give Georgia a home run threat. He’s more than a move the chains plodder. He’s going to be a real weapon for Georgia.

Connor Riley: Look for him to play a role similar to Kenny McIntosh, impressing with his pass-catching abilities. I think Georgia feels very confident in what it went out and added from the transfer portal. That it made Florida all the worse, probably makes Kirby Smart even more excited about what he has Etienne.”

Etienne arrives with SEC experience and is eager to be the No. 1 running back, something he wasn’t asked to do at Florida. Yurosek meanwhile brings in a veteran presence into the tight end room after graduating from Stanford.

Georgia added three wide receivers via the transfer portal, while Jake Pope, Collin Gill and Xzavier McLeod will all look to make an impact on the defensive side of the ball. Georgia also welcomed quarterback Jaden Rashada into the program via the transfer portal.

Be it Derion Kendrick or Dominic Lovett, Georgia has had success mining contributors out of the transfer portal over the years. Yurosek, Etienne and the rest of Georgia’s transfer portal will open the 2024 season against Clemson on Aug. 31. Clemson is the only non-service academy team to not bring in a single player out of the transfer portal this offseason.
