ATHENS — The two players Georgia dismissed in the offseason are headed for junior college.
Defensive lineman Chauncey Rivers, thrown off the team in April after his third marijuana-related arrest, is headed to East Mississippi Junior College. That’s according to Rivers’ Twitter bio.
Rivers’ name is not yet on the school’s official roster on its web site.
Defensive back Chad Clay is transferring to Butler (Kan.) Community College, according to Clay and Butler’s Twitter pages. Clay was dismissed last month after his second arrest in four months.
Butler CC is the same school that Zach Mettenberger transfered to after his 2010 dismissal from Georgia.
Both Rivers and Clay are still awaiting adjudication of their court cases. Rivers’ most recent arrest was in Deklab County for charges including marijuana possession. Clay was arrested in March for a felony related to shooting BB guns in a dorm, and then again in June for a misdemeanor on theft by taking.
