The Georgia football team debuted some new uniforms on Thursday. The two new looks the Bulldogs showed off has ties to some of Georgia’s classic uniforms.
One was a black jersey with spikes on the collar and the Georgia Bulldog on the sleeve. Georgia has only once worn black jerseys in the Kirby Smart era, with that coming back in 2016 in a 35-21 win over Lousiana-Lafayette.
The other, which earned much more praise from the fan base, was a white jersey and red pants look that the Bulldogs used to wear much frequently, including during Georgia’s 1980 championship season. It is believed the last time the white jersey, red pant look was worn came against South Carolina back in 1988.
The road uniforms will be worn for only the Arkansas game. Those same uniforms also have a patch to honor the 1980 national championship team, the last time the Bulldogs won the title.
