Mark your calendars.

The highest-rated recruit in UGA’s basketball history, Anthony Edwards, will make his debut with the Bulldogs on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

That’s when the Bulldogs will open this season’s play in a home game against Western Carolina. UGA announced the rest of its non-conference basketball schedule for 2019-2020 on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-5 215-pound Edwards is a 5-star shooting guard from Atlanta who  rated as the nation’s No. 2 overall recruit. He’s also projected to be selected No. 2 overall in the 2020 NBA Draft in a recent mock by ESPN.

UGA also has bigger non-conference games at home against Georgia Tech (Nov. 10), along with on the road at Arizona State (Dec. 14) and Memphis (Jan. 4). In the Memphis contest, the basketball phenom nicknamed “Antman” will be squaring off against the kid who beat him out for the No. 1 overall recruit rating – 7-footer James Wiseman.

Back to the Georgia Tech game: Bulldogs coach Tom Crean said in a press release that was excited about the earlier date, considering the two teams have recently played during the Christmas holiday break for students.

“I’m thrilled that the Georgia Tech game will be played on a weeknight when our entire student body is in town,” Crean said. “Our students were tremendous last season, and we’re going to need that enthusiasm and energy to grow to even a more fevered pitch this year.”

In Crean’s first year at UGA, the Bulldogs posted an 11-21 record, including 2-16 mark against SEC opponents.
