Want to attack every day with the latest Georgia football recruiting info? That’s what the Intel brings. This post tees up the final four schools announcement from All-American TE Oscar Delp.
=============================================================
Oscar Delp has a plan. It is a plan that continues to all come together quite nicely.
The nation’s No. 3 TE and No. 93 overall prospect (247Sports Composite) knows he needs to see some game visits before he’s ready to make his college decision. The 6-foot-5, 230-pound senior at West Forsyth in Cumming also knows he wants to honor his mother, Mary, on her birthday of September 30.
He announced his final four on Thursday night. Those schools are Clemson, Georgia, Michigan and South Carolina.
That will allow him to possibly see UAB at Georgia on Sept. 11, Georgia Tech Clemson on Sept. 18 and Kentucky at South Carolina on Sept. 25.
Delp also knows he will travel to see Georgia and Clemson face off in Charlotte on Sept. 4.
“It’s working out perfectly almost,” Delp said. “Crazy.”
These four schools have recruited him the best so far.
“I feel that those are the schools I have been closest with for a while now and I have the best relationships with,” Delp told DawgNation.
The rest of the process for Oscar Delp
He doesn’t have a final inclination as of yet. That’s what those visits are for.
“It will definitely be difficult deciding between these four but I think soon I will get that gut feeling and know where I want to be,” Delp said.
Delp has long been the only tight end target for UGA in the 2022 cycle. He has been told by Georgia tight ends coach Todd Monken and the staff that they will not take a tight end in 2022 if he decides to be a Gamecock, a Tiger or a Wolverine.
He got to see UGA last season while on game visit-only last fall with future 2021 signee Dylan Fairchild. Fairchild, who is a freshman on the team this fall, was his teammate at West Forsyth.
“Now I am waiting to get out to campus on game days and feel the true atmosphere for each school,” Delp said.
Delp and his Wolverines will kick off the 2021 season at home as part of the Corky Kell Classic. West Forsyth will host Carver-Atlanta at 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 18.
He returns after a breakout 2020 that saw him go from a relatively under-the-radar prospect to national prominence and All-American status. West Forsyth finished 9-4 last fall and he had a lot to do with it.
Delp saw his numbers dip for a few weeks after an injury to the West Forsyth starter at quarterback. He still finished with 43 catches for 730 yards and nine touchdowns in nine games. He averaged a whopping 17 yards per reception. That’s a pretty stout number for a high school tight end.
Those totals were boosted by huge nights against Mill Creek (205 yards) and South Forsyth (172 yards) in 2020. He had 15 catches for 246 yards as a sophomore in 2019.
