Want to attack every day with the latest Georgia football recruiting info? That’s the Intel. This entry shares a couple of details up to this point about Georgia’s recruitment of 5-star junior QB Arch Manning.
=============================================================
How did the visit to UGA go for 5-star junior QB Arch Manning?
That’s a popular question for those that follow Georgia football recruiting. Manning is the nephew of retired Super Bowl champion QBs Eli and Peyton Manning.
He is a Manning but actually plays more like his grandfather Archie than his two uncles. The two future Hall of Fame QBs are actually the talk of sports broadcasting these days with their entertaining and innovative new Monday Night Football must-see TV.
It is like Manning Night Football watching those two these days.
They are taking over that day of the week while their 5-star nephew still shines on Friday nights.
The 6-foot-4, 215-pound senior from Isidore Newman in New Orleans ranks as the nation’s No. 1 overall prospect for 2023 on the 247Sports Composite ratings.
As if the nation’s No. 1 prospect in any given class had enough press. He’s also a Manning quarterback.
Do the Bulldogs have a chance? What about Alabama? Clemson? Ole Miss? Texas?
When asked about that, his father Cooper Manning shared a couple of thoughts. He did so with the efficiency his younger brothers conducted the two-minute drill across their storied careers.
Cooper was quick. To the point. Poised. Precise.
The first thing he noted was that his family would prefer to conduct this recruitment at their own pace. That means minus the constant stream of interviews and information exchanges.
“I think it is best as a parent to just enjoy the visits and keep my comments out of the public,” Cooper Manning said in a message to DawgNation. “Arch mentioned he had a great visit and I think that’s plenty enough.”
Arch doesn’t even (gasp!) have a Twitter account. His Instagram is private. The way he communicates with the majority of his peer recruits in the 2023 cycle is via SnapChat or text message.
“He’s getting too much press as it is,” Cooper Manning added. “I hope you understand.”
He’s right on target with that. There have been some Arch Manning headlines out there proclaiming him to be the most hyped-up recruit in college football history.
There’s the obvious talent and skill set. Then the Manning family name. That comes with all the expert guidance, training and the accumulated 60-plus years of experience of playing quarterback at the highest levels imaginable in college and pro football.
As a parting thought, he shared his appreciation for the interest in Arch and his recruitment. But then he shared a nugget that will likely stir the hearts of the fan base of the nation’s No. 2 football team.
“Athens was great and Kirby and his staff are first class.”
That now makes two very high-profile visits for the Manning family to check out UGA and Kirby Smart’s program. It goes without saying the feeling there is that college towns don’t come too much finer than the Classic City in Georgia.
