This Sentell’s Intel rep on Georgia football recruiting has the latest with 4-star CB Jontavius Wyman. He ranks as the nation’s No. 12 CB and the No. 154 overall prospect for 2025 on the 247Sports Composite. The On3 Industry Ranking has him as the No. 15 CB and at No. 177 overall.
JONESBORO - Jontavius Wyman has 47 college scholarship offers, but he’s been ready to commit to play for Georgia football for some time.
He made it official this morning at a media day event for Jonesboro High School that was delayed for some time by a fire alarm in the school gym.
Wyman grew up with a dream school in USC. He also had a favorite team in Alabama of late, but then Georgia started to creep into the picture.
When first-year cornerbacks coach Donte Williams came over to UGA from Athens this year, he took notice of that. He felt the same way with UGA bringing in safeties coach Travaris Robinson from Alabama.
Something about the mix of all of that just felt right. Maybe even more right.
“I just felt like why would I keep holding off on a place that I know has my heart and interest,” Wyman told DawgNation. “When I know where I am going the whole time. Georgia, the school that I am going to, has been a place that I felt was home for a long time. Ever since ever before I had an offer. It just felt like the place right and it was home.”
Georgia also made an impression on his mother Brittany Bell by trying to recruit not just Wyman, but also his family.
“It just felt great down there and then as time went on and I was able to talk to the coaches I was able to build a great relationship with coach Donta and coach T-Rob,” Wyman said. “Then with my Mom Coach Donta has been checking up on her a lot. She liked the place a lot. My family loves it. I just felt like it was all great.”
That’s why Wyman just announced on his Instagram Live that he committed to Georgia in the Class of 2026. The 4-star CB target brings true two-way skills and electric ability in the return game.
“They just feel like my mentality is different,” Wyman said. “Anytime I am on the field I can make a play anywhere. I feel like, I don’t know, they just like me a lot.”
Wyman has picked up the name “Mr. Everything” so far in his career for his ability to play all over the field at quarterback, receiver, defensive back and on special teams.
He’s now the second commitment in the Class of 2026 for the Bulldogs. The 6-foot, 175-pound rising junior joins 5-star Nashville Christian QB Jared Curtis as verbal commitments for that cycle.
UGA legend Scott Woerner was the last big-timer that UGA pulled out of Jonesboro High. If Wyman can replicate even half of that during his time in Athens, then DawgNation will be very very happy.

If that wasn’t enough, Wyman said that his family tree and roots in the Savannah area include former NFL great Sterling Sharpe and NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe.
“Cousins,” Wyman told DawgNation.
He said he’d always wanted to commit early. Wyman said he knew he had to be a Bulldog after he attended and shined at a 7-on-7 camp this summer in Athens.
How does he feel about being a Dawg?
“This feels great,” he said. “Not a lot of people get this opportunity. I’m very blessed to get this opportunity to come to a school like that. Georgia is a powerhouse. I just want to keep going and keep building and rebuilding that place.”
Jontavius Wyman: The game you have to hear about
We need to chronicle his Dutchtown game from last season. The Cardinals were able to pull out a tight 30-29 victory in a game he basically took over after the roughest of starts.
“The stuff he did in that game was uneared of,” Jonesboro assistant coach Darrian Carmichael said. “Unbelievable.”
That’s when he missed a day of practice that week. It meant he couldn’t start on defense that week.
When his team was on offense early, he fumbled on the 2-yard line on the way in for a score.
“When that happened I was just laying down on the field for a second and was like thinking,” Wyman said.
He couldn’t believe what was going on.
It got worse. He was then inserted on defense and he gave up a touchdown.
Then it got better. A lot better.
He ran a go route and soon caught a 29-yard touchdowns.
Wyman had a Pick-6 shortly thereafter. That covered about 60 yards.
He also also threw a touchdowns pass and added another Pick-6 in the same half.
That’s four touchdowns before halftime. To top it all of, he added a third interception in the second half.
“I mean it felt great,” he said. “I was able to help my team get the Dub.”
