This Sentell’s Intel rep on Georgia football recruiting has the latest with 4-star CB commimtent Jontavius Wyman. He ranks as the nation’s No. 11 CB and the No. 119 overall prospect for 2026 on the 247Sports Composite. The On3 Industry Ranking has him as the No. 14 CB and at No. 154 overall.

Jontavius Wyman has been committed to Georgia for six months now. That’s longer than 11 members of the 2025 class had been committed before they signed with the Bulldogs back in December during the early period.

He chose UGA early because it just felt right. It had that “home” feeling from an early point. While he’s going to listen to and visit other schools, he says the “crib” is still in Athens.

Wyman was a part of the big “Junior Day” event over the weekend that went approximately 25 prosepcts deep. It was an intimate event designed to show Georgia’s elite targets just who the priorities were. That allowed for more 1-on-1 time with the staff.

Prior to an event like that, the bulk of their time with the coaches at UGA had been brisk visits at games or camps. Now that the 2026 cycle is the next class up, the UGA staff slows down those visits for all of its top targets.

With Wyman, they want the playmaking CB to be a leader for the class. It is a natural choice at this time given that there are only four commitments at this time and he’s the only one of those in Georgia.

“The Junior Day was great,” Wyman said. “They want me to go get the best of the best.”

Miami and South Carolina are still talking to Wyman, among others. It means the Dawgs have to still treat Wyman like he’s an undecided recruit in this day and age.

“They are treating me like a top priority to them still,” he said.

That said, the group text message thread for the nation’s top 2026 prosepcts has been active for years now. It has allowed Wyman to get a good read on who he’d like play with at UGA for the next cycle.

“I want to get Nassir McCoy, Tyriq Green, Ryan Mosely, Jared Curtis, Kaiden Protho and Savion Hiter,” he said. “I’m coming to get them.”

Well, there was one other name to add to his list.

“And Tyler,” Wyman said.

That was 5-star LB Tyler Atkinson. Nobody will forget that name in this class. Here’s a quick breakdown of all those names.

  • 4-star safety Nassir McCoy - The 6-foot-2, 180-pound safety at Buford is rated as the nation’s No. 18 safety and No. 216 overall prospect on the On3 Industry Ranking. He’s the nation’s No. 17 CB and No. 250 overall recruit for the 247Sports Composite scale. Georgia Freshman All-American safety is his cousin. Those families are close.
  • 4-star ATH Tyriq Green - The 5-foot-10.5, 190-pound ATH at Buford is rated as the nation’s No. 9 ATH and the No. 164 overall recruit for the On3 Industry Ranking. The 247Sports Composite has him as the No. 10 ATH and the No. 156 overall prospect. Green ran for 527 yards and eight touchdowns in 2024. He added 29 tackles and five interceptions on defense, including a 107-yard interception return.
  • 4-star WR Ryan Mosley - The 6-foot-4, 206-pound two-way standout at Carrollton could play on both sides of the ball in the SEC. He’s ranked as the nation’s No. 37 WR and No. 217 overall for the 247Sports Composite. Mosley caught 55 passes for 848 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2024. That’s 15.4 yards per catch. He could also be a great safety at UGA.
  • 5-star QB Jared Curtis - Curtis is one of only two Wyman targets outside the state of Georgia. The one-time UGA commit is rated as either the nation’s No. 1 or No. 2 QB prospect for 2026 by all the major services. The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder has already set his official visit to UGA for June 13-15 and is also expected to host UGA at his home again this week. Curtis led his Nashville Christian (Nashville, Tenn.) team to the state championship this past season. He threw 40 touchdowns and just three interceptions while also scoring another 18 times on the ground.
  • 4-star TE Kaiden Prothro - The 6-foot-6-plus, 207-pound Prothro is a 3-time champion at Bowdon. He also is a double-double machine in basketball and a left-handed starting DH for the baseball team. He’s rated as the nation’s No. 2 TE and No. 25 overall recruit for the 247Sports Composite, but was a standout performer working just at wide receiver during the 2025 Under Armour All-American Game week.
  • 5-star RB Savion Hiter - The Virginia resident is the nation’s No. 1 RB for both the 247Sports Composite and the On3 Industry Ranking. He’s a top 20 or better overall recruit for both services. Georgia is clearly in his top 5 and he will be back in Athens for the next big “Junior Day” event on February 1. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound rising senior had 1,897 total yards and 29 touchdowns. He also have 56 tackles, seven sacks, four TFLs and one INT on defense.
  • 5-star LB Tyler Atkinson - The Grayson standout is the nation’s No. 1 LB across all the major services. The consenus Top 10 national prospect was offered in March of 2022. He’s likely already taken 15-plus visits to check out UGA. Atkinson is a Jalon Walker-hybrid type. He’ll make plays sideline-to-sideline with great speed and anticipation but is also a lethal pass rusher. He has 475 tackles, 79 TFLs and 31.5 sacks through his first three varsity seasons.

If the Dawgs can get those names, what would that mean to the program?

“It would mean a lot,” he said. “I want to play with the best of the best. So why not bring in the best? Let’s continue the tradition and bring a ‘Natty’ home.”

Wyman can fill a lot of roles on a football team. He played the Travis Hunter role expertly this past season at Jonesboro High. That meant being a lockdown corner and an electric offensive weapon that kept opponents nervous by lining up as a gamebreaker returning punts and kicks.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound rising senior had a fantastic junior season. Even for a top 125 overall recruit already committed to UGA.

  • 32 total tackles and 1 TFL
  • Two interceptions for 52 yards
  • 34 catches for 506 yards and 7 TDs (14.9 yards per catch)
  • 8 punt returns for 280 yards and two TDs (35.0 yards per PR)
  • Nine kickoff returns for 269 yards (29.9 yards per KOR)

There hasn’t been five cornebacks to signed with UGA during the Kirby Smart era that had the sort of junior season that Wyman just had for his Cardinals.

Not in all three phases of the game.

Wyman was also a team leader in every sense of the word. Whether it was the story his coaches told me about a pregame meal before a big game at Olive Garden. Wyman was the one that had everyone gathered around the same table watching the film of that week’s opponents.

When the buses got to the opponent’s stadium, he’d be out early. Very early. He’s got through a circuit of routes and drills specific to playing both cornerback and wide receiver. He’d do that about an hour before his group would be called for the real pregame workouts.

It didn’t matter the conditions. He was out there way early prior to the Blessed Trinity game the same way he’d get that work in before every game. That’s when the temperature hovered in the low 30s.

“I do it every week,” Wyman said. “Just get the feel of the atmosphere and where I’m playing at.”

That’s his ritual. He’s out early. Working.

“Make sure I pray,” he said. “Stretch. Go over technique and all that type of stuff.”
